En ny stor amerikansk undersøgelse peger på, at sukker i læskedrikke kan øge risikoen for blodpropper i hjertet. Sukker påvirker indholdet af triglycerider i blodet. Triglycerider er fedtstoffer, der findes i kroppen og primært stammer fra den mad vi indtager. Et forhøjet indhold af triglycerider ses ofte i forbindelse med overvægt, diabetes og et stort indtag af alkohol. Det kan føre til åreforkalkning og derved blodpropper i hjertet. Hvis kroppen ofte udsættes for et for højt blodsukkerniveau og store udsving i blodsukkeret, vil det på sigt øge risikoen for hjerte-kar-sygedomme.

Myth: Sugar in soft drinks increases the risk of blood clots
True:

A new big Amercian study shows/point outs that the sugar in soft drinks(lemonade) can increase the risk of blood clots in the heart. Sugar effects the amount of triglycerides in the blood. Triglycerides is fats that is in the body and primarily comes from the food that we consume. An increased amount of triglycerides is often seen in connection with overweight, diabetes and a large intake of alcohol. It can lead to atherosclerosis and thereby blood clots in the heart. If the body is often exposed to a high blood sugar level, and large fluctuations in the blood sugar, it will on long term increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
